5 Ways to Increase Your Fertility After 35

Oct 16, 2024
Most people understand that fertility begins to decline with age. While true, it doesn’t mean you can’t still get pregnant. If you’re over 35, consider some of these ways to increase your fertility.

Many people decide to have children after the age of 35. Whether this is your first baby or you’ve already had successful deliveries in the past, having a child later in life can be more difficult due to a natural decline in fertility for both men and women. Still, there are plenty of ways you can increase your fertility after 35.

Gen 5 Fertility Center offers advice, procedures, and treatment programs for patients like you who want to grow their families. We believe in helping people make the best choices for their lives, health, and future happiness.

Dr. Samuel Wood, Dr. Benito Villanueva, and Dr. Martin Bastuba would be happy to discuss all the ways you can increase your fertility after 35 and determine which one (or more than one) would best suit you.

Having a baby after 35

It’s important to realize, first and foremost, that you’re not alone. Many people are choosing to have babies later in life. Whether this is because you’ve waited to find the right partner, you wanted to save money first, or another host of reasons, you’ve got company. In fact, around 20% of women are choosing to have their first child after the age of 35 in the US.

Having a baby after 35 is often fully possible as menopause doesn’t usually set in until sometime between 45 and 55 years of age. But as you age, ovulation regularity, egg quality, and egg quantity all begin to decline while the chances of miscarriage and certain reproductive disorders like endometriosis or fibroids increase. These issues lead to a decrease in fertility.

But this doesn’t mean you’ll be unable to conceive. In fact, there are a number of treatments and even home remedies that can increase your fertility after 35, making it easier for you to grow your family at this slightly later point in your life.

5 ways to increase your fertility after 35

Home remedies

There are plenty of things you can do yourself to increase your chances of conceiving a child. Many of these are also beneficial for your overall health and include quitting smoking, eating well, avoiding and managing stress, working out, cutting out caffeine, and getting more time to relax.

Ovarian stimulation

If you’ve been trying to get pregnant for six months or longer, you might want to consider a medical intervention that could increase your chances of conception. One such intervention is ovarian stimulation. It involves taking medications that increase the quantity and quality of the eggs you release. In some cases, this alone can help you conceive.

Treatment for blocked tubes

Some women might have an issue with blocked tubes, which can occur as a result of endometriosis, uterine fibroids, or another condition. Tubes with minor blockages can be cleared with a minimally invasive surgery that can help increase your chances of conception.

Semen analysis

Remember: men also experience issues with fertility as they age. However, a semen analysis can be a great way to determine if there are any issues with sperm viability, volume, or other aspects. These can be analyzed and possibly managed to make conception easier.

Ovarian rejuvenation

Another fantastic option we offer at our clinic is ovarian rejuvenation. This treatment can help with premature menopause or other fertility issues that can occur after 35. It uses PRP (or platelet-rich plasma) therapy to stimulate your body’s natural healing and growth factors, which can, among other things, help improve hormone levels necessary for conception.

Can I still have a baby after 35?

There are more people having children later in life, and this is leading to an increase in innovations in the field of infertility. As such, we believe it’s very likely we’ll be able to help you improve your fertility and conceive after 35.
